Alseta's Ring

Alseta's Ring

The walls and domed ceiling of this large circular chamber are elegantly carved in spiraling designs. To the north, a double door stands in the side of a squared-off column protruding from the wall, while to the south an open archway leads to a stairwell leading up that’s been blocked by rubble. In the center of the room stand six statues of elves, all facing outward and arrayed around a dry fountain. Empty benches sit in four alcoves to the east and west, nestled between six stone archways built into the wall. Each of these archways bears a different type of decor, but with the exception of the northeastern archway (which is partially collapsed and opens into a ruined chamber beyond), each archway leads nowhere—they are filled with plain, featureless walls of polished stone.

A. Lotusgate

This aiudara is destroyed, but what remains is still decorated with designs of lotuses and icons sacred to Alseta. The far side of Lotusgate is known to be located in the elven nation of Kyonin, but this side of the portal is irreparably damaged.

Key: Unknown
Destination: Kyonin

The aiudara of Alseta’s Ring were the first created by the elven hero Candlaron, and of those, Lotusgate was the first of them all. Originally linking Alseta’s Ring to the elven nation of Kyonin, Lotusgate’s terminus below Hellknight Hill was destroyed not long after Earthfall, when the Ekujae elves managed to trap Dahak’s divine manifestation within the Huntergate portal, which was opposite to Lotusgate. The backlash of divine dragonfire erupting from Huntersgate struck Lotusgate, destroying the portal and forcing its way station to phase back into the Material Plane in a state of devastation.

B. Jewelgate

This aiudara is decorated with images of crystals, and its upper arch bears designs like those of stalactites. Icons sacred to Yuelral adorn the aiudara.
Jewelgate.png
Key: Eye of the Wise
Destination: Saggorak - Five Kings Mountain

Jewelgate appears as an arch of pale green stone shot through with veins of rose-colored crystal. Large gemstones and crystals grow from the stones—if pried from the arch, they crumble to dust as new stones grow to fill the vacancy created by the missing crystals. A row of stalactites hangs from its upper arch, while wafting curls of silvery mist dance within the arch. This portal was created to honor the elven goddess Yuelral, the patron of jewelers, spellcasters, and those who work with crystals. Originally, the portal led to a wondrous underground chamber where crystals of astounding size and variety grew, but unknown to the portal’s first users, serpentfolk controlled this realm. These denizens of the Darklands reacted violently to the first elven visitors, forcing Candlaron to abandon this portal and establish a trusted watcher-guardian within its way station.

C. Duskgate

Decorated with images of sunsets and beautiful architecture in what appears to be a desert or savannah, this aiudara is devoted to Findeladlara.

Key: Guiding Chisel
Destination: Unknown

Duskgate appears to be carved from pale marble, shot through with faint striations of gray. Graceful pillars of stone carved to appear as if rising from grasslands flank the central arch, while the
rays of a setting sun are depicted above. Upon closer inspection, wisps of white vapor ripple along the carving, moving just under the surface of the stone. Duskgate feels warm to the touch, as one
might expect of stone that has spent the day baking under the desert sun, yet nothing in the portal’s decor suggests that it leads to any one specific location.

D. Huntergate

Images of hawks and moons, interspersed with jungle vegetation and trees, decorate this aiudara, along with icons sacred to Ketephys.

Key: Hunter's Arrowhead
Destination: Mwangi Jungle

The facade of Huntergate makes clear its association with the elven deity Ketephys, god of forestry, hunting, and the moon. Images of his sacred animal, the hawk, grace the uppermost reaches of this stone archway, while branches of jungle foliage coil up along the pillars on either side, giving hints as to the portal’s destination.

E. Vengegate

This aiudara is adorned with images of wasps, whips, and the waves of the open sea, along with icons sacred to Calistria.
Vengegate.png
Key: Unknown
Destination: Unknown

Vengegate appears somewhat undecorated compared to the other aiudara of Alseta’s Ring, with its upper frame appearing a bit austere. Images of the open sea with a cloudy horizon decorate its sides, but close inspection reveals numerous tiny carvings of
wasps, realized in meticulous detail, adorning the entire archway. Once noticed, the wasps are hard to unsee, and what first appeared as a plain stone arch thereafter seems to buzz with insectile activity as the wasp carvings shift and change position after even a brief moment’s glance away.

F. Dreamgate

Butterflies, stars, and images sacred to Desna adorn this final aiudara.

Key: Eclipse
Destination: Ravounel - Cypress Point

The stone arch of Dreamgate appears at first to be built of solid stone, yet closer inspection reveals something strange—the slabs of marble seem to shift and shimmer, as if they were made of not-quite solidified clouds. Images of stars and butterflies adorn this aiudara portal—icons sacred to the goddess Desna, for Dreamgate was crafted in her honor. The way station within was once used as a place for travelers to rest and enjoy pleasant or even prophetic dreams. Long ago, elven explorers used this portal to travel to the shores of the Arcadian Ocean, and in time these elves took to the waters to become Golarion’s first aquatic elves.
