As a half-elf, Kyonin was never a welcoming home for Elowen "Fourth" Thorne. His family did their best, but the pride and bigotry of the elves left them on the outskirts. His mother, also a half-elf, was seen as a stain on their wider family and this forever barred them from entering the ancient and enchanting cities of the elves. For a time, life in the trade encampments open to select non-elves was satisfactory, but discontent grew.

Elowen and his faithful panther, Onyx, said their farewells and left with half-hearted promises to write home. The destination was less important than the idealized adventure he envisioned after years of talking to overzealous traveling merchants.

Traveling through Durma was a rude awakening and, frankly, a total bore. But before long, the pair found themselves trapped in the small town of Breachill. Onyx, with a broken paw, is resting in a tavern room, an expense the nomads can almost certainly not afford for long. Low on funds and keen to avoid resorting to theft, Elowen has spent the last few days trying to find a small gig.
